The Dream Life of Lila Acheson Wallace
The Dream Life of Lila Acheson Wallace
2002

This is a half-sized replica of the classical niches in which flowers endowed by Lila Acheson Wallace are displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A gerenuk (a type of long-necked antelope that eats standing up) is attempting to eat the flowers. Like the flowers in the Met, these fresh flowers are replaced every week when the piece is displayed. The rest of the piece is made from carved basswood.
